A'ight, so I'm tentatively leaning towards a Techie for my 300-pointer, but I'd be willing to step aside on that if anybody who knows computers/engineering/etc and can improv that stuff better than I can really wants it. Also making a Rifleman and a Reaper.

Crap. I either didn't read this, or I forgot that I read this.

I'll take the corporal.

Session 2 ... Sunday June 9th? June 23rd?

Toms place, 3PM?

Also, I've been marking this stuff up all fancy-like, making OCD-fueled tweaks and modifications, and posting it over on Wikidot for the world to enjoy: http://gurpsstarcraft.wikidot.com/

Not sure yet. I was thinking either Sunday June 9th or June 23rd, depending on everyone's schedules.

If Tom's cool with hosting again, we can do it there ... otherwise, we'll have to look for other accommodations.

As noted in the e-mail, I'm good to host it, here.

Update:

I sign my life away on my new condo, Monday afternoon. However, because that takes place in the beginning of June, and not the end of May, my first mortgage payment is not due until Aug. 1. Had the signing gone as scheduled, Friday, I would have had to make my first payment July 1, and would have had to pay that and the rent for my current apartment, for July.

So, the delay of one working day, and three calendar days, bought me a four-week delay in the commencement of mortgage slavery. So, my move-in date is now Aug. 1, instead of July 1, and I won't have an overlap during which I pay my last month's rent on my current place, and the first month's mortgage on my new place, both in the same month.

It also means that I'm seriously considering having some work done on the new condo, before I actually move in. The floor needs replacement, pretty badly, and if I remodel the kitchen, the value of the property improves tremendously.

However, it also means more debt (I have got to be out of my mind...). It also means I would NOT want to move in, until after most of the work is done, so that means I'm in this apartment for another 5-6 weeks, or so.

Nice! Congrats on the new place and the lucky break!

So, per details under negotiation via email, we'll plan Session 2 for Sunday the 9th, at 3pm, at Tom's old/current apartment; and Session 3 for Sunday the 23rd, at 3pm, at Tod's new pad.

Agreeable? Objections?

EDIT: Ok, posted on the calendar.

Session 3 posted...

Loading the wounded into cargo holds (the only alternative being to leave them for dead), the Space Marines of Tango Company, joined by the survivors of "Big Unit," make for the LV-427 habitat -- leaving a canyon full of charbroiled, highly-perforated zerg in their wake, just in time to stay ahead of the Swarm!

Linking with Victor Company's long-range vehicular comms, the following updated battle-map downloads to the team's suit TacNet computers...

"Criminy, Gunny! You seein' this? We got a half-dozen zerg scout units within spittin' distance of this atmo-processor!"

"I can see it just as good as you can, Sarducci. And, 'criminy'? What the hell kinda word is that? You watchin' Bob Violence cartoons, again?"

"If it wasn't for Bob Violence, I'da never joined the fuckin' corps. Dammit. What are we gonna do? We only got the four of us, and a vehicle set on auto-kill."

"Quitcher bitchin', Sarducci. We marines, ain't we? We kill 'em all or die tryin'. That's what we do."

The ragged survivors of Tango Company (along with 6 Vikings of Victor Company and 5 Siege Tanks of Lima Company) have arrived at the LV-427 Habitat, brought the generators online, and began using the station facilities to tend to damage and wounded. With access to the planetary comm network, the Megaera has been advised of the situation, and Adm. Nelson has ordered an orbital drop of supplies into the facility. ETA, 2 hours.

Meanwhile, Lt. Col. Callahan of Bravo Company has ordered a retreat as the Swarm closes in, abandoning their forward base and falling back to LV-427 ... however, the Swarm is all around them, and without serious support, they'll never make it.

The Reapers of Romeo Company are making a mad dash across the canyons of Rock Ridge, and are nearly to the Habitat ... Sierra Company, a powered infantry unit, is trying to do the same, but lacking the speed and maneuverability of Reapers, things don't look good for them without support.

Echo Company ("The Wascally Wabbits") is a Ghost Recon unit, on their way north to the Habitat after infiltrating and painting a hive cluster to the South (which the Megaera dispatched with a few nukes and blasts of its mighty Yamato Cannon). They've managed to evade attention so far, but without evac, they're at least a day out.

The Swarm, however, is only about 8 hours out. A directed catalytic cloud from the terraforming reactor has thinned the vanguard, and bought a little extra time to batten down the hatches, but there's no stopping the inevitable arrival of More Zerg Than You've Ever Seen.

The next session might be a few weeks out (after I get settled into my new place), and apart from some possible rescue missions, general battening down the hatches, and Mass Combat, we're getting close to wrapping up the first part of the scenario. So, I'm thinking we've got enough PCs indisposed and/or infirm that we can start switching into Single PC mode for the next stage.

Ultimately, each player will control a single 500-point PC, which can be either any surviving PC Space Marine (with Cinematic Screen-Wipe recovery to 90% HP + temporary Wounded disadvantage, if he was hospitalized), with improved/added template traits, cyberware, cinematic abilities (Gunslinger, Luck, etc), to bring him up to 500 points; or a new 500-point Terran Ghost (Base template + 100-point Specialist lens, or 50-point Officer lens & 50 pts in additional abilities) or Protoss Warrior (probably a Dark or High Templar, possibly Zealot with +100 pts). There will be plenty of highly cinematic combat, but also stuff for specialists to do.

We might have a few more scenes (and battles) where each player is controlling multiple Space Marines, and players creating Ghosts or Protoss PCs will have to wait until in-game events bring them into the story, but we can start introducing the 500-point PCs as soon as next session.

Speaking of which, when? This weekend's obviously out for me, and I suspect next week and weekend will still be sketchy ... 4 AUG is EBG's supers game ... I'm out the weekend of the 11th, and EBG's pattern would suggest they'll want to play the 18th, leaving us to wait for the 25th if we do a Sunday game. Weeknight games will mostly work for me after next week, with enough lead time. I should be able to host, or I'm happy playing at Tom's or Tod's.

The EBG is kind of between games right now, actually. 8/4 is the last session of the current plot arc for our only game in progress, so if you were to schedule Starcraft on 8/18 nowish, we'd probably just roll out the new IST Y2K Seoul game on 8/11 and continue it on 8/25. I'm also good to go on Monday-Thursday nights.

I'm back online. As noted in the e-mail chain, I'm not available the weekend of the 18th. Headed to the mountains for a camping trip.
